This was a very special show for me, as I was privileged to be the emcee Singapore for the Closing Ceremony for the conference & also the emcee Singapore for their Gala Dinner.
This year the conference was hosted in Singapore & the organising committee went out of their way to make it a very special & memorable event for the attendees. People came from far & wide to attend the conference, brainstorm & network about their industry together & I could see that the guest really took this conference seriously as they look forward to attending this yearly event.
Country Event Host Announced
The host country for next years’ conference was also announced, & it will be none other than Chinese Taipei & the conference will be held in the exciting city of Taipei. The whole organising committee from Chinese Taipei were present this year, & were very keen to witness how the whole event was run.
The Closing Ceremony was very formal, with some thank you speeches, highlights of the conference & announcement of winners of a special award. After that, the ceremony for the official ‘Passing of the Flag’ onto the next host country was held. All went very smoothly, thanks to a great team effort.
Shortly after the Closing Ceremony finished, the Gala Dinner commenced. It was a lovely sit-down dinner hosted at RWS & it turned into a night of great fun & merriment.
Individual Country Performances
Eleven Countries, representing their own nations, did impromptu performances for all the guests presents. These performances were really put on in the spirit of fun & everybody loved them. Three outstanding performances were given special prizes & the winning country this year proved to be Thailand, who sang a Thai folk song, & one of the Thai delegates accompanied them on acoustic guitar.
A few countries deserve a special mention. The Japanese group put on Samurai-type make-up & dressed in Kimono’s & taught a few of the audience how to play a ‘special’ Japanese game. Hong Kong did a very clever re-write & spoof of an Abba song & Korea transported us to Gangnam district with their song & dance routines. All the countries did a terrific job & it really made a terrific night to remember for me as the female emcee Singapore.
One important thing to mention about the 17th EAAC conference is that this year was the first year that the Republic of China participated & I must say, they were a very enthusiastic group.
Everything wrapped up around 10pm, as it had been a long few days for all the delegates, but the 17th EAAC in Singapore will be remembered just like the country of Singapore itself. Lively, refreshingly vibrant & pulsating with energy!
Well done, guys, as an event emcee Singapore, you made me proud!
