Many corporate emcee always find this time of the year extremely exciting. I think it’s because of all the love, joy and goodwill that is spread around. Everyone looks forward to fulfilling dreams, hopes & expectations in a new year, and I guess because it’s a new beginning, we get to wipe the board clean and start afresh every year.
Different Types of Event for New Year for Corporate Emcees
As a corporate emcee, I’ve had the privilege of hosting many different types of events for the New Year.
I remember one New Year’s Eve party for a golf club. They had two functions running for their members. One was in a ballroom, and another in their main restaurant. They asked me to host the New Year Party in the ballroom, which I was more than happy to do. There were about 200 guests, and all of them were very lively & excited to be at the party for this auspicious day. The night was a roaring success. At 10pm, the club wanted a band to do a bracket for 45mins, and while they were performing,, I ran downstairs to the restaurant and did a Showtime performance for the guest in the restaurant. After I finished my show in the restaurant, I ran back upstairs and continued with the fun-loving audience upstairs. It was a very interesting and unique New Year’s Eve for me.
Fancy Dress New Year Party Corporate Events
Another New Year’s Eve Party I emceed that was very memorable was for the Navy. This division from the Navy always like to hold a party, specifically on New Year’s Eve. Their spouses are invited, and they want to foster unity and camaraderie for the coming year, so they choose to welcome the New Year together. They’re very imaginative and choose special themes for their night.
When I emceed for them, I was ‘Thalassa, Goddess of the Sea’, and the evenings program and games were all planned around this concept of buried treasure in the sea.
I was dressed as “Thalassa” wearing a mermaid style costume, & a chiffon boa was draped around me, symbolising seaweed. My back-up team were also dressed in costumes to bring the theme to life.
Bringing One degree 15 Marina to Life
This New Year ’s Eve party is special, because it is an open air function, hosted right next to the gorgeous marina, which is full of beautiful exotic yachts.
The theme for this night was more Hawaiian, as they wanted everyone to dress down, in a very casual, easy going way. The audience were scattered all over the place, some dining al fresco, and some in the enclosed restaurant. The client provided large television screens everywhere, so no matter where people were sitting, they could still enjoy the fun, games & festivities.
I thought I might have difficulty getting people to come on stage because of the lay-out of the venue, but, there was no problem. Everyone was so happy to be out celebrating New Year’s Eve that they were more than happy to come on stage to participate in the activities.
Traditions Never Change for any Corporate Emcee
It seems to me, that, as a corporate emcee, and no matter what venue I’m performing in, the drink of choice for New Year’s Eve is always the traditional ‘Champagne’.
The song of choice to herald in the New Year is always the traditional “Auld Lang Syne”, and the dance of choice after the countdown, well-wishes & kisses is always the traditional ‘Conga’.
So, even though we are welcoming the new, it’s good to know that, no matter what, some things always remain the same.
Happy New Year everyone
